Workshops in the CHSS ODE: Due July 7, 2017

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences Office of Distance Education offers various professional development workshops for faculty each year. Below you will find a listing for this year (2017-2018), a short description, and application information.

The Build a Web Course Workshop (summer, fall, and spring)

This semester long workshop assists participants in creating online and hybrid courses to QM standards. Completion results in QM certification.

Who can take it? Any part time faculty members only teaching one course in the semester of the workshop and all full time faculty. Participants can only take the workshop once for an incentive.

Incentive? Varies:

- Full time faculty: $3,000 for the delivery of a completely build online or hybrid course to QM standards by the deadline.

- Part time faculty (choose one):

- $500 to attend workshop

- $1,000 to attend workshop and participate in all activities

- $3,000 to attend workshop, participate in all activities, and build a complete course to QM standards by the deadline

The Skills Update Workshop (spring)

This workshop is completely online. It is only open to faculty who have completed the Build a Web Course workshop.

Who can take it? Any part time faculty members only teaching one course in the semester of the workshop and all full time faculty.

Incentive? $1,500 for the delivery of a completely built online or hybrid course to QM standards by the deadline.

The Advanced Skills Update Workshop (fall)

This workshop is completely online. It is only open to faculty who have successfully completed the Skills Update Workshop.

Who can take it? Any part time faculty members only teaching one course in the semester of the workshop and all full time faculty.

Incentive? $1,000 for the delivery of a completely built online or hybrid course to QM standards by the deadline.

The Effective Classroom Management Academy (fall)

This workshop is completely online and designed to support part time faculty in using technology effectively to help maintain a work/life balance. 

Who can take it? All part time faculty.

Incentive? $150 for participating in three online professional development modules.
